How to

Setting up my tablet for email

Want to set up your tablet for email? It's easy, but remember you need to set up your tablet for internet before you can use this function.


List view

1. Find "Email"

Tap the menu icon.
Tap Email.

2. Enter email address

Key in your email address.
If an email account has been created already, do the following instead:
Tap the Menu key.
Tap Settings.
Tap Add account.
Key in your email address.

3. Enter password

Tap Password and key in the password for your email account.
If the display tells you that your email account has been set up, follow the instructions on the display to select more settings and finish the setup.
Tap Next.

4. Select server type

Tap POP3 account.

5. Enter username

Tap the field below "Username" and key in the username for your email account.

6. Enter incoming server

Tap the field below "POP3 server" and key in the name of your email provider's incoming server.
If Optus is your email provider, key in mail.optusnet.com.au as your incoming server.

7. Turn off encryption of incoming email

Tap the drop down list below "Security type".
Tap None.

8. Enter incoming port

Tap the field below "Port" and key in 110

9. Turn deletion of email on server on or off

Tap the drop down list below "Delete email from server".
Tap Never or When I delete from Inbox.
Tap Next.

10. Enter outgoing server

Tap the field below "SMTP server" and key in smtp.optusnet.com.au

11. Turn off encryption of outgoing email

Tap the drop down list below "Security type".
Tap None.

12. Enter outgoing port

Tap the field below "Port" and key in 25

13. Turn off SMTP authentication

Tap Require sign-in until the function is turned off.
Tap Next.

14. Select settings for retrieval of new email

Tap the drop down list below "Sync schedule".
Tap Manual or the required period.
Tap the drop down list below "Peak schedule".
Tap Manual or the required period.

15. Turn synchronisation of email on or off

Tap Sync Email to turn the function on or off.

16. Turn email notification on or off

Tap Notify me when email arrives to turn the function on or off.
Tap Next.

17. Enter account name

Key in the required name.

18. Enter sender name

Tap the field below "Your name (Displayed on outgoing messages)" and key in the required sender name.

19. Finish setup

Tap Done.
Wait while your tablet retrieves new email.

20. Return to the home screen

Tap the Home key to return to the home screen.
