Setting up my mobile phone for iMessaging

Want to select settings for iMessages? It's easy, but remember you need to activate your Apple ID before using this function.


List view

1. Find "Messages"

Tap Settings.
Tap Messages.

2. Turn on iMessages

Tap the indicator next to "iMessage" until the function is turned on.

3. Turn sending of read reply on or off

Tap the indicator next to "Send Read Receipts" to turn the function on or off.
If you turn on Send Read Receipts, the sender is notified when you've read an iMessage.

4. Turn SMS alternative on or off

Tap the indicator next to "Send as SMS" to turn the function on or off.
If you turn on Send as SMS, iMessages will be sent as regular SMSes if the service is unavailable.

5. Add email address

Tap Send & Receive.
You can key in an email address which others can send iMessages to.
Remember, you need an Apple ID. If you don't have an Apple ID, you can create one on www.apple.com
If you've not yet logged on with your Apple ID:
Tap Use your Apple ID for iMessage.

Follow the instructions on the display to log on.
Tap Add Another Email....
You can key in an email address which others can send iMessages to.
Remember, you need an Apple ID. If you don't have an Apple ID, you can create one on www.apple.com
Key in the required email address and tap return.

Tap Messages to go back to the settings.

6. Return to the home screen

Tap the Home key to return to the home screen.
