Setting up my mobile phone for MMS

Want to set up your mobile phone for MMS? Follow these easy instructions.


List view

1. Find "Access Point Names"

Tap Apps.
Tap Settings.
Tap More settings.
Tap Mobile networks.
Tap Access Point Names.

2. Create new data connection

Tap the Menu key.
Tap New APN.

3. Enter data connection name

Tap Name.
Key in Optus MMS and tap OK.

4. Enter APN

Tap APN.
An APN (Access Point Name) is used to establish a connection from your mobile phone to the internet. In order to send and receive MMS, your mobile phone needs a data connection

5. Enter MMS server

Tap MMSC.
Key in http://mmsc.optus.com.au:8002/ and tap OK.

6. Enter IP address

Tap MMS proxy.
Key in 61.88.190.10 and tap OK.

7. Enter port number

Tap MMS port.
Key in 8070 and tap OK.

8. Enter country code

Tap MCC.
Key in 505 and tap OK.

9. Enter network code

Tap MNC.
Key in 02 and tap OK.

10. Select authentication type

Tap Authentication type.
Tap PAP.

11. Select APN type

Tap APN type.
Key in mms and tap OK.

12. Save data connection

Tap the Menu key.
Tap Save.
Tap the Home key to return to standby mode.

13. Find "Settings"

Tap Apps.
Tap Messaging.
Tap the Menu key.
Tap Settings.

14. Turn delivery reports on or off

Tap Delivery reports below Multimedia message (MMS) settings to turn the function on or off.
If you turn on delivery reports, you'll be notified when your message has been delivered. This requires that sending of delivery reports has been turned on by the recipient.
When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), the function is turned on.

15. Select setting for MMS download in home network

Tap Auto-retrieve to turn on the function.
If you turn on the function, you'll receive all MMS when you're within range of your home network.
If you turn off the function, you'll be notified before you receive MMS when you're within range of your home network.
When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), the function is turned on.
If you turn on the function, you'll receive all MMS when you're within range of your home network.
If you turn off the function, you'll be notified before you receive MMS when you're within range of your home network.

16. Select setting for MMS download when roaming

Tap Roaming auto-retrieve to turn on the function.
If you turn on the function, you'll receive all MMS when you're out of range of your home network.
If you turn off the function, you'll be notified before you receive MMS when you're out of range of your home network.
When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), the function is turned on.
If you turn on the function, you'll receive all MMS when you're out of range of your home network.
If you turn off the function, you'll be notified before you receive MMS when you're out of range of your home network.

17. Exit

Tap the Home key to return to standby mode.
