Set up your mobile phone for POP3 email

You can set up your mobile phone to send and receive email from your email accounts. Using POP3, your email are retrieved and stored locally on your mobile phone and at the same time they're deleted from the server. It is therefore not possible to access your email from different devices. Before you can set up your mobile phone for POP3 email, you need to set up your mobile phone for internet.


List view

Find "Email"

Tap the Navigation key.
Select Messages.
Select Email.

Create new email account

Tap the Left selection key.
Select Email accounts.
Tap the Left selection key.
Select New account.
Select Other Email accounts.
If the name of your email provider is on the list, select this instead.

Enter email address

Key in your email address and tap the Navigation key.

Select server type

Select POP3.

Select data account

Select Automatic.
Select Next.

Enter incoming server

Key in the name of your email provider's incoming server and tap the Navigation key. If Optus is your email provider, key in mail.optusnet.com.au as your incoming server.

Enter incoming server

Key in smtp.optusnet.com.au and tap the Navigation key.

Enter username

Key in the username for your email account and tap the Navigation key.

Enter password

Key in the password for your email account and tap the Navigation key.

Enter account name

Key in a name for the email account and tap the Navigation key.

Return to the home screen

Tap Disconnect to return to the home screen.
