Setting up my mobile phone for Exchange email

Want to set up your mobile phone for Exchange email? Follow these easy instructions.


List view

1. Find "Access Point Names"

Tap Applications.
Tap Settings.
Tap Wireless and network.
Tap Mobile networks.
Tap Access Point Names.

2. Create new data connection

Tap the Menu key.
Tap New APN.

3. Enter data connection name

Tap Name.
Key in Optus email and tap OK.

4. Enter APN

Tap APN.
Key in yesinternet
Tap OK.

5. Enter country code

Tap MCC.
Key in 505 and tap OK.

6. Enter network code

Tap MNC.
Key in 02 and tap OK.

7. Select authentication type

Tap Authentication type.
Tap PAP.

8. Select APN type

Tap APN type.
Tap Internet.

9. Save and activate data connection

Tap the Menu key.
Tap Save.
Tap the field next to Optus email to fill in the field.
Tap the Home key to return to standby mode.

10. Find "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync"

Tap Applications.
Tap Settings.
Tap Accounts and sync.
Tap Add account.
Tap Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.

11. Enter email address

Tap account@example.com and key in your email address.

12. Enter password

Tap Password and key in the password.

13. Enter domain and username

Tap the field below Domain: user name and key in the domain and username separated by a "\".

14. Enter server address

Tap Exchange server and key in the server address.

15. Turn SSL encryption on or off

Tap Use secure connection (SSL) to turn SSL encryption on or off.
When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), the function is turned on.
Tap Next.
Tap OK to confirm.

16. Select interval for synchronisation

Tap the drop down list below Peak schedule.
Tap Push, Manual or the required frequency.
Tap the drop down list below Off-peak schedule.
Tap Push, Manual or the required frequency.
Please note:
Every time your mobile phone connects to the server to synchronise, data charges will apply.

17. Select settings for synchronisation of emails

Tap Period to sync email.
Tap the required setting.
Tap Emails retrieval size.

18. Select settings for synchronisation of calendar

Tap Period to sync Calendar.
Tap the required setting.

19. Select default email account

Tap Send email from this account by default to turn the function on or off.
When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), the function is turned on.

20. Turn automatic synchronisation of contacts on or off

Tap Sync Contacts to turn the function on or off.
When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), the function is turned on.

21. Turn automatic synchronisation of appointments on or off

Tap Sync Calendar to turn the function on or off.
When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), the function is turned on.

22. Turn automatic synchronisation of tasks on or off

Tap Sync Task to turn the function on or off.
When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), the function is turned on.
Tap Next.

23. Enter account name

Tap the field below Give this account a name (Optional) and key in the required name.

24. Finish setup

Tap Done.
Tap Activate.

25. Exit

Tap the Home key to return to standby mode.
