Setting up my mobile phone for email
Want to set up your mobile phone for email? Follow these easy instructions.
List view
1. Find "Access Point Names"
Tap the menu icon.
Tap Settings.
Tap Mobile network.
Tap Access Point Names.
2. Create new data connection
Tap Menu.
Tap New APN.
3. Enter data connection name
Tap Name.
Key in Optus email and tap OK.
4. Enter APN
Tap APN.
An APN (Access Point Name) is used to establish a data connection.
Key in yesinternet and tap OK.

5. Enter country code
Tap MCC.
Key in 505 and tap OK.
6. Enter network code
Tap MNC.
Key in 02 and tap OK.
7. Select authentication type
Tap Authentication type.
Tap PAP.
8. Select APN type
Tap APN type.
Key in default and tap OK.
9. Save and activate data connection
Tap Menu.
Tap Save.
Tap the field next to Optus email to fill in the field.
Tap the Home key to return to standby mode.
10. Find "Mail"
Tap the menu icon.
Tap Mail.
11. Create new email account
If email accounts have been created already:
Tap Menu.
Tap Menu.
Tap New account.
Tap Other (POP3/IMAP).
12. Enter email address
Key in your email address.
13. Enter password
Tap Password and key in the password for your email account.
Tap Next.
14. Select option

15. Enter account name
Key in the required name.
16. Enter sender name
Tap the field below Your name and key in the required sender name.
17. Retrieve email
Tap Finish setup.
Wait while your mobile phone retrieves new email.

18. Edit email account settings
Tap Menu.
Tap Settings.
19. Select settings for synchronisation of email
Tap Sync, Send & Receive.
Tap Peak time sync.
Tap Smart Sync, Manual or the required interval.
Tap Off-peak sync.
Tap Smart Sync, Manual or the required interval.
20. Exit
Tap the Home key to return to standby mode.
21. Select server type
Tap the field below Protocol.
Tap POP.
22. Enter username
Tap the field below Username and key in the username for your email account.
23. Enter incoming server
Tap the field below POP server and key in the name or IP address of your email provider's incoming server.
If Optus is your email provider, key in mail.optusnet.com.au as your incoming server.
If Optus is your email provider, key in mail.optusnet.com.au as your incoming server.
24. Turn encryption of incoming email on or off
Tap the field below Security type.
SSL encryption protects your email when sending and receiving email. If you turn on SSL encryption, your email provider and internet service provider need to support this function, and you might need to select further settings before you can send and receive email.
Tap None.

25. Enter incoming port
Tap the field below Server port and key in 110
Tap Next.
26. Turn off SMTP authentication
Tap Login required to turn off SMTP authentication.
When the field next to the menu item is empty, SMTP authentication is turned off.
27. Enter outgoing server
Tap the field below SMTP server and key in smtp.optusnet.com.au
28. Turn off encryption of outgoing email
Tap the field below Security type.

29. Enter outgoing port
Tap the field below Server port and key in 25
Tap Next.
30. Enter account name
Tap the field below Account name and key in the required name.
31. Enter sender name
Tap the field below Your name and key in the required sender name.
32. Retrieve email
Tap Finish setup.
Wait while your mobile phone retrieves new email.

33. Edit email account settings
Tap Menu.
Tap Settings.
34. Select settings for synchronisation of email
Tap Sync, Send & Receive.
Tap Peak time sync.
Tap Smart Sync, Manual or the required interval.
Tap Off-peak sync.
Tap Smart Sync, Manual or the required interval.
35. Exit
Tap the Home key to return to standby mode.
